We were excited to supply Sam Willoughby with an Evolv standing frame while he was visiting Adelaide. Sam has had a remarkable journey since being injured in 2016, while training for the sport he loves – BMX bike racing. Here’s his thoughts on this fantastic piece of equipment.
“I am Sam Willoughby, I am 28 years of age I have been using an Evolv EasyStand standing frame for two and a half years now. I was injured practising for BMX racing on 10 September 2016, which resulted in me becoming a C-6 quadriplegic. I use the standing frame on a daily basis for a minimum of two hours a day. I use It for the health benefits of bone density and blood flow. I also get really tight hamstrings, hip flexors and lower back so the standing frame helps me stretch all those out whilst watching TV or doing emails. The standing frame feels really good after a long flight to stretch everything out. My advice to anyone who is using a stander would be to give yourself something to do whilst standing, whether it be reading, emails or some sort of upper body exercise to pass the time and ultimately get more time upright by adding standing to your daily routine.”
